

Your shifts will be long, so physical fitness and stamina are an absolute must. You will work rotating shifts, covering not just day and night but weekends and holidays as well. It is a 2 unit, graded course that teaches LAs to be effective at facilitating active learning and collaborative group work. Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program. Once completed, LAs are certified and do not need to take the course again. You might be specialized to assist in various types of operations. All LAs, new to the program, must enroll in UNI STU 176: LA Pedagogy during their first quarter as an LA. Erica is employed by Lakeland Dental as a Dental Assistant. Positioning the patients, cleaning incision areas, disinfecting equipment, sponging blood, dressing wounds will be some of your duties, among many more. They are there with surgeons in the operating room and help the team perform various small technical tasks, such as selecting and passing on equipment, holding open or closing incisions, stopping bleeding, and many more. First assistants work in hospitals or clinics alongside medical professionals, assisting them in performing surgeries.
